      Originally active: 1980-1987

Later that year he brought them back to Kingston, Jamaica to record his "Mystic Miracle Star" album. The band performed extensively throughout the eastern United States during the 1980s, opening for Burning Spear on two tours and appearing with a veritable who's who of Reggae music including Peter Tosh, Toots and the Maytals, Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs, Leroy Sibbles, Yellowman, Third World, The Gladiators, The Wailers, Eek-A-Mouse, Dillinger, The Heptones, Jimmy Cliff, Ziggy Marley, Black Uhuru, Mutaburuka and others.

      Majestics (1981-1986)
      Style: Roots reggae
Notable bookings: Toots & the Maytals, The Clash, among many others.
      Releases:
-- "Mystic Miracle Star" 7 song LP w/ Lee Perry in 1982 on Heartbeat Records. It was recorded and mixed at Dynamic Sounds and Aquarius, both in Kingston, Jamaica. This is the album that got Perry back into action in the 1980s, following the demise of the Black Ark and it climbed to number three on the British reggae chart. Backed by a "tight reggae band from New York", Perry alternates here between punk style reggae and extended, sometimes tiring grooves. While it's not a great album, it does represent a kind of blueprint for Scratch's work in the 1980s. Killers include the raucous "Holy Moses" and the deadly 13 minute long "Eradication Squad", where Lee forms a posse to "wipe out all the bad". It's been reissued on CD and cassette by Heartbeat Records and you can even check out sound samples of the album.
Notes: Former members of Bahama Mama started this group and later started Big Roots.

-- "Live" full length LP on Archive Records in 1980. Live recording of their last show in 1980.
Notes: The original reggae band in the Rochester area that played with everyone and anyone famous in reggae passing through town during that period. They also did some ska songs, both live and recorded.
