First off, I want to point out that this isn't meant to be a rip on the other thread about pop punk, so don't take it that way.

I also want to point out that I do realize this is a ska board but hey, ska is just pop punk with horns anyway, right? (joke)

So here's what's up. I sing and play either guitar or bass, but at the moment I'm feeling bass more. Ideally I'd like to go for a power trio but I'm really open to anything at the moment. I'd really like to do the whole trading off lead vocal duties thing, throw in a bunch of harmonies, that kind of stuff. Bonus points if the other vocalist is female and can harmonize like crazy. If anyone happens to play organ and wants in on this, definitely get at me. Even if you don't want in on this get at me... I'm working on some stuff that is in serious need of organ.

I'm looking to do stuff along the lines of Screeching Weasel, Teen Idols, Less Than Jake (without the ska - nothing against ska I'm just not that into playing it), older Green Day, The Loved Ones, The Methadones, Squirtgun, Jetty Boys, etc.

Other stuff I'm into, but don't necessarily want to sound like, just in case you're interested: The Clash, Ann Beretta, Bedouin Soundclash, The Bouncing Souls (mostly Hopeless Romantic and earlier), Strike Anywhere, MU330, Operation Ivy, that new Ben Weasel solo record is really awesome, and I'm also pretty into Elvis Costello and Buddy Holly.

i'm all for it, the only prob is location. where would said band practice? btw, i can play bass, guitar, and kinda sing. i play a pretty rad uke too.

I'm not opposed to traveling a little bit for the right situation though.

Um, Johnny.. Did you forget that we have a full basement? You could set up shop down there.. Or I guess if someone already has a practice space they'd rather use, that could work too..

For anyone who might be interested: We live in a house on the West Seneca Turnpike. It's in the valley, at the base of Onondaga Hill (so not in the sketchy neighborhood area). Our driveway is easily big enough for two more cars than the two we've got, and if need be you could park across street.

i'm from rome, so the only way i could be in said band was to travel. since i'm too bad of a driver to get a liscense, my mother would have to drive me. since i work every day except sat-sun, i could only make it once a week. furthermore, if every musician in rome wasnt a total dickbag i would already be in a punk (but prob emo) band, and we wouldnt even be discussing this.

would this band be up for doing imaginary tours?

we are actually in the works for a coheadlining Sonic Death Monkey UK tour.

i dont think i would consider dethklok and spinal tap to be fake bands. joke bands yes, but they have songs like any other band.
