It's a big country, wide variety of beliefs and intelligence levels.

I find Obama's comment about Midwesterners being gun-toting Bible-thumpers to be condescending, so I don't blame the car dealer for being cranky.

Although I would take the gas card over the gun (gas is expensive, and I don't have anywhere close by to shoot the gun :P)

Don't you live in/near Rochester?

I'm pretty sure people shoot everywhere.

Oh and if you like at countries by size America is the largest Western nation. It's hard to keep all the beliefs together.
The south is completely different from the Midwest which is different from the North East, which is strangely similar to the South West coast....
...go figure.

Good...It's about time somebody started observing the freedoms this country has to offer..even if the only constructive qualities of said action are demonstrating the liberties we have been granted (and in some cases that have been stolen from us) as americans

I find it discomforting to know that as people are purchasing a vehicle they are being solicited to own a gun, a decision I think its ultimately more serious than the decision to receive a gas card or a free option on a new vehicle. I personally like to target shoot...but I don't want someone "throwing in" what I feel is the privilege of using or owning a firearm.

"oh yeah sure..I guess I'll take a gun..its free, right? cool."

how is this worse than when in bowling for columbine michael moore showed that a bank was giving guns away as free gifts when opening an account?

its stupid either way. its not any easier to get a gun any particular way, this way is just free with the purchase of something more expensive

I can't imagine the gun violence in Butler, Missouri is all that high.

This would be a lot different if they did it in say... Detroit. I'm willing to bet the public outcry would be bigger. You can tell that by the BBC picking it up. Not that it's not good news... but they usually pick up on stories that the general american public could give two shits about.

Now if they did that in some high violence town like Philadelphia... that shit would be all over fox news in 10 seconds flat.

That's a good point too...you need to differentiate between a small mid-western town and a highly populated city with a high crime rate. I'm for gun ownership rights though cause if guns were outlawed only outlaws would have guns.

Seems to me that the industrialized countries with far fewer guns also seem to have far less violent crime. I don't think that's a coincidence.

I'd also strongly differentiate between people in rural areas with rifles and shotguns and people in urban areas with handguns. Seems like a world of difference there.

Anti rape is the biggest reason I endorse gun ownership.
I'm really on the fence on the issue, but when it comes to small hand guns I think some women should have them.

TOTALLY DISAGREE ON ONE VEIN...

A gun should never be used as a gimmick..its a very powerful and dangerous tool...and there are stupid people everywhere, not just in urban areas.
