So here's the thing. I drive an awful lot for work, and I've got some LP's that I really hate not being able to listen to except for at home. Does anyone know how to (or no anyone who will, for a nominal fee) transfer LP's into a digital format?

In related news, the Bop Shop Record Show is tomorrow, 5/7. If you dig vinyl and can make it down, I highly recommend it. Last time I went, I picked up about 8 LP's and several 45's for under 20 bucks. Plus it's just fun browsing through all the different vendors. Good times ahoy!

What I do is use Cool Edit Pro. You can just record the songs right off of there. You would have to hook your decks up to your computer though...if that's what you were originally doing.

yea. it's so simple too.

Get Cool Edit Pro or really any music editing program.

I did a write up on 315 hardcore but I don't feel like finding it...

What you do is connect your stereo and record player to the computer. Do this by using a cord that I can't remember the name of. You put the cord into the headphone jack of the stereo and the microphone jack of the computer. Now your stereo should play through the computer speakers. Go into the music editing program and hit record, then play the record. and it'll record it. If you have cool edit pro like I do if after recording it sounds a little fuzzy or has too many clicks or peaks I run the click/pop eliminater filter. Then I run the Hiss reduction filter. Personally I did about 7 or 8 records so far and what I'd set the Hiss reduction to was High Hiss Reduction then raise the noise floor to around 10 DB. and it gave me really great quality mp3s. Sounded like I had ripped it from a cd almost instead of a record.

ok heres what you do... get a power inverter for your car(one of those things that converts the 12v cigarette lighter to a 110v ac outlet) i'd say at least 50 watts. then just bring your record player and sterio equipment with you! Trust me, you'll be the coolest kid in the neighborhood.watch out on those bumps though!

I already found someone to carpool with me.
We're going to leave at like 9am, go to the record fair, then go straight to Oswego because I need to bring give the guys of Big D a CD.

..Holy hell that's gonna be a lot of driving..
SWEET!

P.S. Aaron - Want to meet up for lunch or something? I'll have to be sometime around 1pm.. if you're free. (Call Twitch and ask him too!)

Yeah, call me when you get to around ... Waterloo or so (exit 41 or 42).

You need directions? The place is right by Twitch's old place on University.

I'll definately call. And I'm sure I'll find the place (also I'll mapquest it).

Right now it's just a matter of getting in touch with my ride.. He went out last night to a bar and is currently no where to be found. Ugh.

Keep your fingers crossed.

I love that Record Show, but I always spend waay too much money there.

I might be up for lunch afterwards.

Yep.
So the guy I wanted to go to Rochester with totally ditched me.
Well.. I know he went out to a bar last night to drink with friends, so I'm going to assume that he's either dead on a curb somewhere or is still in bed with a terrible hang over. Ugh.

At any rate.. I guess I'm not coming.
I don't have the money right now to make it to Rochester, buy records, go out for lunch, then drive to Oswego, and then all the way back home. The point in going with Anthony was to split gas costs, along with everything else.

It's probably for the better any way. I bed I'd spend every single cent I had. Haha.

Anyway, I should probably look up the directions to Oswego. I've got no choice but to go to that.. so oh well.

I'm sorry guys. I really really wanted to be there, but it just didn't work out.

Meh. It wasn't that great this year. I picked up 'One Step Beyond' for $2, and Otis Redding 2-disc set, and a Desmond Dekker CD. I saw more stuff, but nothing I particularly wanted. There was Millie Smalls' 'My Boy Lollipop' album for 15 bucks, but a) her voice annoys the crap out of me, and b) it was the Bop Shop's anyway, so it'll be there later. I don't have enough cash to throw around to buy it just to have it.

But there's another one in November, anyway.

Use Audacity. It's free.

I was in the process of ripping all my shit before I moved. But, my computer has since died (my mother informs me)... so, I lost all of it anyway.

I'm just gonna sell it off come July anyway. People I know get first dibs before newgroups, mobos, craigslist, and ebay.
