Please check out the very legendary Ruder Than You from Philadelphia PA. I just found out they were considered as the headliner for the CT Ska Prom, but they weren't booked for it because they were considered too pricey. But if they'll play for the same price in Syracuse, I'd be down for it.

What do the rest of you think???

why doesn't the poll just say yes or no and not have to choices for no?

two options for no lets danny know whether someone voted no for them for this 1 particular event, or if a person who said no would not under any circumstances enjoy seeing them.

Exactally, it's the same reason I worded the Anorexic Beauty Queen poll the way I did. You may like them but not on a ska prom because maybe you want only younger bands, or only trad ska or only insert something bands.

These guys are playing with The Bouncing Souls and Sticks & Stones at The Knitting Factory on June 4th. I was informed last weekend that my ticket for the show was bought a while ago and that I've got no choice but to go.

But yeah. They're way rad. I'd love to have them up here.

A few of us had thought about Westbound Train for the Syracuse Ska Prom. But the more kids I talked to, the more obvious it became that while the younger kids admire their obvious musical abilities, a far too high percentage find their style undanceable. I don't agree personally, but I also realize rocksteady isn't what most of the kids coming to our shows tend to think of as naturally skankable music.

So another way of asking about Ruder Than You is whether you think they sound a lot more danceable than Westbound Train. I know what I think on that, but I want to hear what the younger kids think. This is far more their ska prom then mine. :D

I'm definitely loving the songs on their myspace, and they sound like they're very danceable. I'd love to see them up here, whether it's at the ska prom or not. From what I understand, though, we'd need quite a bit of publicity because a lot of the people I've talked to haven't heard of them.

Aw, I adore WbT and think they are actually one of the more danceable bands around right now, but to each their own.

I'm always down to see Ruder Than You.

Um Will, most of these younger kids are like "what is Moon Ska?"

BTW, based on the very positive response here, I'm trying to see if Ruder Than You can play a ska prom here on Sun, May 21st. They're definitely interested. Keep your fingers crossed!

HAHAHAHAHAHA.
Yeah.. I'm still learning my ska history. And all this stupid record label crap drives me crazy. I listen to music for the music, not because it's on a certain record label. Unfortunately with Hero I have no choice but to know EVERYTHING about all music EVER. Haha. It's fun.

But yeah. RTY sounds like a good choice for the Ska Prom. I enjoy them greatly.

Ruder Than You is checking their schedules to see if they can play here on Sun, May 21st. I told them we'll try to work around their schedule that day. They're promising an answer in a couple days, so keep your fingers crossed!

But speaking of schedules, it's been suggested that on school nights like this, maybe we should be doing stuff 5-9pm instead of our usual 6-10pm? I'm open-minded either way, but we're trying to fid the best schedule especially for younger kids whose parents are touchy about staying out late on school nights. So, what do you think on that?
