There is a band, they are called This Bike is a Pipe Bomb. Well, some kid put a sticker from said band on his bike. He was arrested, and buildings were closed.

Original Story
Update

Now, even though I am normally one to give the authorities the benefit of the doubt, this is absolutely ridiculous. This kid may be going to jail because he likes a band.

On top of which, how dumb would you have to be, if said band didn't exist, to get a sticker made that said "This Bike is a Pipe Bomb," and then put it on your pipe-bomb-laced bike?

It isn't stupid at all. First off he put a "This Bike Is a Pipebomb" sticker on his BIKE. Not everyone is gonna know what the hell that's about. Someone freaked they called in the big dogs and reacted like they would if someone left say a box next to a large building. I'm just happy that they reacted. You know what is stupid? People calling cops stupid for following their duties and orders to serve and protect people.

He wouldn't be going to jail for liking a band. It isn't reported like that and it isn't going down like that. He's down for inciting panic. If there was a band called "Fire In the Corner" and someone went to a concert hall that was full and yelled it for no reason and caused panic it's the same deal. He'd be going to jail for being foolish enough to but a sticker that said this bike is a pipebomb on his bike and not thinking that anyone would have a problem with it. If it was on a tshirt fine, a car fine but on a bike? Come on that's poor thinking. If you want to find a reason to complain about cops and the government there are plenty of REAL reasons to get angry and up in arms.

Well, if the bike realy was a bomb, you wouldn't put a sticker on it stating so.

And if there is a sticker on a kids bike that says that, doesn't come off a bit more like a joke. I mean, a STICKER! it's not like he wrote it in a permanent ink, fallowed by a series of serial numbers.

Haha, we should pull over any car with a sticker of an alchoholic drink on it. They are threatening drunk with driving.

Shut up. How can you say nobody would label a bomb. If somebody really wanted to make the U.S. look a fool would be to label a bomb and blow it up. Then proclaim the American Government doesn't care about it's people. etc etc.

Maybe one day when you grow up you can realize how easy you've had it.

Please prove to me the many instances, since we the people are left unattended and unprotected by the United States government, where the government has shown how little it cares about it's people.

I guess I shouldn't expect too much sincerity or honosty from a Socialist.

He did not stand up and shout fire in a crowded theater, he placed a sticker on his bike.

While it was not the most intelligent thing ever, there is no law that states "One shall be punished for being stupid."

He, in my opinion, did not incite panic (I have not read the statute declaring what that incitment is legally defined as). (The statute may very well be outside Constitutional bounds, but that would be determined much later on, if was the case.)

From the facts that were presented in the stories I have read, I have no reason to believe the kid did anything wrong. Was it stupid? Arguably, but illegal, no.

Most of you know, I normally grant a large amount of deference to the authority, but in this case, they are in the wrong.

There are potentially huge First Amendment implications in this case, and that is why it needs to be handled now.

The some, 37 million people who live in poverty. The war veterans who are not getting their deserved money from the government. The girl in my school who cannot afford lunch because her mother makes a hundred dollars ove the ammount of which would quallify her for getting a lunch card. The millions of lost jobs due to the fact that the government wont swallow its pride and make outsourcing illegal. THE GOVERNMENT WHO PUT UP BORDERS, DECLARING ALL OUTSIDE ILLEGAL WHEN THEY ATTEMPT TO ENTER THE USA. The governmanet who has failed to crack down on gang violance in cities, where children go to sleep in fear. THE INCREASING NATIONAL DEBT, WHICH THERE HAS BEEN VERY LITTLE EFFORT TO REDUCE BY THE GOVERNMENT. As of now, each citizen of the USA owes roughly $28,000. What about political prisoners? Mumia has been denied another trial to prove himself. And the KKK; Threatens everyone outside the white race. People down south STILL will NOT SERVE A BLACK PERSON, OR SOMEONE ASSOCIATED WITH A BLACK PERSON! People complain about taxes yet give to their government. BUT THE RICH ARE TAXED LESS THAN THE POOR!!!

I'm not completly an idiot like you may believe. I understand that we have welfare, unemplyoment, food banks, and many other such associations. But it obviously is not working if so many people are still in trouble, and if the rates keep on increasing.
