I know that Zox is out of Brown University.. And they're an amazing band, and they're doing well these days..

But does anyone know anything more about the ska community in/around Providence or Bristol or even just RI in general?

(I'm thinking about going to college there)

Hey,
I'm Jizzy from the band In the Face. I am from Providence. The ska scene in Providence has done alot better, but their are shows to go to. The Living room puts on shows frequently having alot of the touring acts. And Boston is a little under an hour away and there are always amazing shows there.

local ska bands include

Lemon Lime Tennis Shoes
Clearly Suburban
Senior Discount
Life of the Party

What school you looking at? RWU?

I got accepted to Roger Williams University in Bristol.
They gave me a $10K scholarship and an offer to join their honors program.
Honors students have ocean front housing.
WAY cool.
:D

(Actually.. I just got home from work and on the table was my acceptance letter from Ithaca. Ithaca is my second choice college, and RWU was my third, soo.........)

Yeppers.

1st - Cornell
2nd - Ithaca and/or UVa
3rd - RWU
4th - Alfred U
5th - NSU

But yeah.. The only ones I haven't heard back from are Cornell and UVa.. But I think that neither of them releases anything until April 1st any way, right?

In the very least, Danny my darling, we'll be in the same general area so that we can hang out, and go to rad shows, and have much fun. <3

Sweet sauce! Thanks.

I think I'm taking a weekend to visit come April. I've got family that lives in New Haven, CT so I can just stay with them there and drive to RWU the next day.

Ocean front housing sounds VERY appealing.

And that's precisely why I love it so much.
Holy hell I love the ocean.

When did you apply?

I applied to RWU back in December, and I only just heard back from them a couple weeks ago even though they've got rolling admission.

Good luck dude. Have you been accepted anywhere else yet?

well my mom works at su and i had to apply in november about the tuition exchange program which is free or partial tuition at a list of schools and i still havent heard back from provedince or SU. the school thats giving me the most right now is st bonaventure, theyre giving me full tuition, so unless SU or provedince does thesame i'm likely to go there. but i havent heard from either of them strangely enough, and i prefer both over st bonnies.

where is bonaventure?

yeah.. it is kind of weird that you haven't heard back from SU yet.. everyone at my school that applied there has heard back, at least as far as i know.. and i've got no idea about providence.
