I can't believe that I'm the first one to post about this. Alisa rules!!!! I'm so excited to have her on our team.

Oh yeah, I hadn't said anything because I wasn't sure if there had been an offcial announcement about it at all, or if we were just supposed to find it, or if they were gonna keep it hush hush and then break the news in some huge manner or something.

Yeah, it's way rad.

i don't really like to be so negative, but i just can't say i like that site design. i don't really think i've liked a raz sum site yet....

i guess its just not my bag...

Pro - much simpler, cleaner look than the old design

Con - Flash-based header is obnoxious and doesn't add any functionality. Even worse, if the visitor uses a browser where Flash is not installed, disabled or simply not present, the site navigation is crippled.

Compare it to the Flash usage on the Toasters site, which is fairly understated, packs a lot of options and links into an elegant design, and does add features you couldn't do with basic HTML. (although their site is also crippled without Flash)

I love the new site as well, but I agree with Twitch on (^) that point. It was the one thing about it that bothered me..

Alisa did the new site and I rode with her to CT last Friday, so we got to talk about a lot of things, including some of your comments. She says if you turn your flash off, you'll see the non-flash version. Alisa has done professional web design for many years now and uses a detection feature whether the site shows flash or not. Turn your flash off and test it.

Tested it - with Flash disabled or uninstalled, there is a link to download Flash, but no alternate nav menu.

This will be a problem for anyone who cannot install Flash (library terminal, internet kiosk, school/work computers under tight-fisted IT admins) or who does not want to (leery of security/privacy issues.)

regardless, i think the style of it is very plain, and it seems silly to bother using flash for the little functionality, when a simple html or java code could accomplish a similar effect.

i also think the photo for the menu is too tall... it takes up a lot of space on the screen. and the animation looks kind of funny because you can see the white box of the photo, instead of using a background the same color as the photo. if you did it the other way, it might look more like a camera movement.

and lastly i personally don't like the font that gets used for razbari sumthing.


but this is all my opinion, and i know i probably sound like a jerk... but i think it would look better with a more plain font for the menu (its okay to use their font for the band name i think) and make it not quite as tall.

I agree with Twitch. At least make the flash stop flashing. It's annoying as hell.

Now Johanna, that is hardly the way to promote constructive criticism.

The intro is kind of cool, though.
