Just got back into Syracuse a few hours ago with RazSum after a long few days at Ska Weekend in Knoxville TN.
I'm suffering from serious sleep deprivation at the moment, so I'll spare you all the gory details. But basically, it looked like a great success, possibly with a higher turnout than last year. RazSum got an
amazing response this year, playing on the Saint Tattoo/Jump Up stage on the blocked off street, playing between Deal's Gone Bad and Westbound Train (they took over when Stingers ATX got their flight cancelled). At one point, the entire street was skanking at once, which was quite a sight to behold. Lots of cds sold, the shirts blown out and 150+ kids added to the mailing list. We were initially unsure if we'd schedule Knoxville TN to the summer tour, but its a no brainer now.
My favorite part of festivals like these is meeting all the cool new people. Amanda from Boise, Idaho and the sizeable Detroit crew and the NJ Ska crew and the kids from all over the crazy place. Chicago was very well represented this year as well. Matt Wixson is CRAZY.

One of my favorite moments of a very long weekend is when Rick of I Voted For Kodos came up and gave Matt Wixson a big bear hug. I'm just very disappointed we didn't get a photo of that.

I give Ben a lot of credit this year for mixing up the genres a LOT more than past years. Big ups to Kristin for her help in that as well. Look for even more reggae next year.
RazSum and myself made a ton of new friends this past weekend like Tommi of Bomb Town and got to see a lot of old friends, like Obi of WBT and Jizzy of In The Face. We especially befriended a ton of Knoxville kids and we're really looking forward to seeing them again this summer.
BTW, Big D & the Kid's Table opened their set with a dub number and then their cover of "Little Bitch" by The Specials. Niiiiiiiiiiiccccccce.

Off to get some well needed sleep.
