Anyone here a fan of Go Betty Go from LA? They're not ska, but they play a lot of ska shows. I like the song "No Hay Perdon", but some of the other songs don't do a lot for me.

I'm trying to make a list of up & coming non-ska bands worth booking. :)

Vic is one of the nicest guys I've had the pleasure to work with, and his band rocks.

I had my doubts before seeing them, but Albany's Honeycreeper is weird and funky and cool. Very friendly, good merch line.

Other than the latin schtick, it's really pretty boring.

Point taken, although the appearance of any band is always a factor that either works for or against them. It's human nature.

I don't know a lot about Go Betty Go, although I've been hearing about them for a long time. I'm under the impression they're a real band and not just something a record label dreamed up. At least 3 of them are Hispanic, which is why the Spanish songs make sense.

But I'm sympathetic to what Steven said. The Spanish song is good, but the rest of those songs on MySpace tend to be kinda weak. And their appearance helps them, no question.

The Emersons. If you have an opening on a weekend (and with a little more notice ;-) ) we'd definitely do it.

i'm a loser, but i need to drop the names Nightmare of You and I am the Avalanche because right now, those are my two favorite up and coming type bands who aren't ska.

And I kind of am lukewarm about Go Betty Go. I saw them last year with VGS and Big D and I wasn't much impressed. I remember just wishing they had given Too Short Notice and Jade Fire longer sets. I also have some of their music, and it never much held my attention.

No I'm just lazy and knew you would.

I think they are looking for a show in Syracuse around May 7th.

They are a real good time and everyone in that band rocks.

Danny you should give them a look-in-to.

I really like Go Betty Go, my dad told me about them after hearing them on "Morning Becomes Ecclectic" on KCRW. (Sorry, couldn't resist an internet radio plug in there)

I really like "The Pirate Song", and I love her vocals. But, but, but, some of the songs seem to miss the mark. They just don't... fit. They're just kind of, bland, and the lyrics get generic. You're listening to this awesome song about a girl wearing too-small-pants, and then the track changes, and you are bewildered.
