Rusted Root, John Brown's Body, more to perform at 'Long Branch Jam' in Liverpool
by Geoff Herbert |

Jam band and roots-rock fans, there's a new festival in Central New York for you.

Rusted Root and John Brown's Body will headline the first-ever Long Branch Jam Music Festival on Sunday, June 23 at Long Branch Park in Liverpool, N.Y. Los Blancos, The Shakedown and Master Thieves will also perform.

General admission tickets are on sale for $22 at longbranchjam.com, plus a $2 service fee. Tickets will also be available the day of the show for $30.

"Come celebrate the beginning of summer with a whole day of good music, high spirits and the great outdoors at the natural amphitheater of historic Long Branch Park!" the event's official website says.

Long Branch Park, located at 3813 Long Branch Road in Liverpool, is at the northern end of Onondaga Lake Park.

Rusted Root, featuring lead singer Michael Glabicki, is best known for the '90s hit song "Send Me On My Way." The roots rockers have performed in the Syracuse area several times over the past few years, and Glabicki did a solo acoustic show at The Westcott Theater last year.

John Brown's Body last performed in Syracuse in January, but the reggae-dub-rock band with roots in Ithaca and Boston will bring plenty of jam fans on their own. The group released their first full-length studio album in five years last month, featuring previous concert favorites like "Shine Bright," "Empty Hands," and "Plantation."

The Shakedown (Americana soul), Master Thieves (experimental rock) and the SAMMY-winning group Los Blancos (zydeco-tinged funk and roll), all based in Syracuse, regularly perform in Central New York.

Long Branch Jam Music Festival lineup and schedule:
The Shakedown 1:30 - 2:45 p.m.
Master Thieves 3 - 4:15 p.m.
Los Blancos 4:30 - 5 p.m.
John Brown's Body 6:30 -8 p.m.
Rusted Root 8:30 - 10 p.m.
