If anyone is free Friday or Saturday night, come dig it...I am about to pass out so I'm just gonna repost the press release. Hope to see some old friends.

THE ELEMENT is a 7-piece collective whose members have honed their skills performing and/or recording with everyone from jazz legends like Chet Baker, Buddy Rich, Sam Rivers, and Dave Douglas, to hip-hop heavyweights like Snoop Dogg, Q-Tip, Beanie Sigel and Ruff Ryders, just to name a few. A brutal collision of Bronx Beats, East Harlem Boricua rhythms and downtown improvisation, they draw equally from Prince, A Tribe Called Quest, Stevie Wonder, Uri Caine, and Daft Punk to create what critics are calling the dance party of the decade. THE ELEMENT are currently working on developing material for their second full-length album.

THE ELEMENT will perform as part of Syracuse's Jazz In The Square Festival on Friday, July 25th and Saturday, July 26th. Friday they will take the stage in Clinton Square to perform two free sets, one at 7:30 and one at 9:15. Saturday they will be appearing at one of Syracuse's swankiest new venues, Sophistications Jazz Cafe, located at 441 S. Salina St (part of the Syracuse Galleries). The cover is $5- the party starts at 11 and goes all night!

THE ELEMENT is:

Charlie Lagond - tenor sax
Jonathan Powell - trumpet
Ron Prokopez - trombone and vocals
Frank Almonte - percussion and vocals
Jon Swift - keyboard and guitar
Spencer Murphy - bass
Norman Paul Edwards, Jr. - drums
