i keep hearing about this on the radio at work, and i'm wondering when it is and where it is.
it features john browns body and dave hillyard and the rocksteady 7.
if anyone has the info, let me know.

Yeah, I count this as one of the many wonderful spinoffs of when Joe Basi was booking a lot of trad ska to Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica. He was bringing in Dave Hillyard and NYSJE and the Slackers and more for years. And even though he's now back in Florida, some of these bands are still coming back to cash in on a regular basis, which is awesome for Utica.

Kind of ironic that Utica doesn't support younger-skewing ska bands, but again, someone has to book the shows to make them happen and no one has ever really done that in any kind of consistent way, unlike how Joe was all over the trad ska for years. It didn't hurt either that he was subsidizing the shows with college money -- I remember paying 5 bucks to see the Slackers on an all ages show, which was crazy, given their guarantee.
