The Action! & Funk'n Waffles win SAMMY awards!!!

Fri, Jun 6th -- The Action! (Syracuse NY rock-ska formerly known as Skatos) at the Taste of Syracuse in downtown Syracuse. All ages, no admission, The Action! plays the Emerging Artists Stage in Clinton Square at 6pm. Then on the Main Stage at 9pm, either The Action! or Teenager will get the People's Choice SAMMY Award for Best Band and either Funk'n Waffles or Shifty's for Best Venue -- come on out and show your support!!!

Thank you to everyone who voted!! Not only for us, but all of the bands. I'm hoping that some of you come out tonight, the set should be good... we'll have to see about the award. Thanks again

Congrats to The Action! for winning the People's Choice SAMMY Award for Best Band and also to Funk'n Waffles for winning the People's Choice SAMMY Award for Best Live Music Venue tonight!!!

Adam Gold was hilarious on stage getting the award. I gotta hope someone taped that. :wink:

The Action! also did a great live music set earlier on the Emerging Artists Stage, which was a LOT bigger than past years. Like its now almost as big as the Main Stage. They got a great reaction to playing live and we had our skank pit upfront. Finally got to meet Jake from Rome and see some well known faces from shows and a few I haven't seen in years.

Brendan was also noting how Adam Gold at the Funk'n Waffles booth in Clinton Square was enjoying himself immensely, as they are selling waffles like crazy, including the ever popular brownie waffles. They'll be there tomorrow too and have samplers that are 1/4 of a waffle with strawberry w/ whipped cream for $1, which seemed to be quite popular.

It really couldn't have been hotter or more humid tonight, but it was still a great time and I'm really happy for The Action! and Funk'n Waffles. :thumbup:

It's 11am to 11pm both Friday and Saturday.

Funk'n Waffles booth faces the fountain in Clinton Square, if you're interested. FWIW, Alto Cinco is just a few booths down from them. Also, I was quite happy that there are quite a few veggie and vegan offerings this year at various food booths, including vegan waffles at the FnW booth. :cheers:
