I'm planning to do the contact list treatment with local and regional bands, but that will have to wait for some night when I don't have to work in the morning.

If you wanna step up to the plate and offer contact info for your band, please do (especially if you don't have a website - I'm not that good!)

If you want to play shows in or around Rochester, and you don't have anyone to do the legwork, post a link to your website here and/or email me with whoever coordinates booking for your band:

Jordan how was the turnout at ska wars?

If we are going to do a show, we should probably start with mostly rochester based bands with a following (the glow, the expired) with maybe like one or two syracuse bands. Don't want to have a huge spectacle and have it crash and burn...

Thanks, man. Your "booking 101" post helped a lot. I have that list of bars and clubs, but I'll tuck most of them away for a little while.

I like the small-scale plan better, anyway. I occasionally see DJs spinning or jam bands playing outside Java's Cafe, and now I'm thinking, why not ska?

I'll get in contact with the expired...

I would suggest booking them. They have a pretty large following, they recently played the Streetlight show, so a bunch of people saw them, and they have contacts in to the punk scene, which we will need for turnout because Rochester has a lot of casual ska fans who aren't really in to the scene all that much.

Pretty slim - I'd guess a dozen paying customers, myself included.

But I had a great time, and that's where I first saw the Burtones and Mrs. Skannotto. Humble acorns leading to mighty oaks and all that. :D

Yeah, you'll want more people there if you use that space again. Or move it to someone's basement, very seriously ...

The Crown is weird. It can fit more people, but it's broken into three sections. It feels smaller than it actually is, so turnout concerns come down to making it worthwhile for the bar and the bands.

...although I really dig the basement/party idea. If only I had a basement to call my own. :P
