dream ska show eh?? well it would definately not feature any current ska bands cause well ehh...

The Police (back before sting went solo and he was damn cool)
Sublime (bradley nowell back from the dead zombie style)
The Skatalites featuring the entire original line up (especially don drummond and jackie mittoo) w/ Marcia Grifiths, Alton Ellis, Desmond Dekker, and The Wailers (before they were bob marley and the wailers!) on vocal support.
now that would be a sizzling show.

go go gergie signing off.

The only time I ever got to see WYPB was at their last show at the Downtown in Farmingdale, Long Island when they were opening for Catch 22. I fell in love quickly, only to have my heart broken realizing it was their last show.

I don't even want to ask how you indirectly helped break them up.

Just because I tried to book them to a Westcott show.

Anita and half the band was excited to play a small show in Syracuse in front of wildly enthusiastic high school kids, even though they'd get little money or fame out of it. They loved playing just to play and Anita said to definitely put them down for the next one.

The other half of the band was furious about the booking, because they'd played several prestigious clubs in Manhattan and opened for big names like The Bosstones. The 2nd faction felt playing the Westcott was a decided step backwards and I can't really disagree from that perspective. If you're advancing a musical career, that show was worthless, no question.

I gather the argument they had over it at a practice was very, very nasty. Anita told me they couldn't play the Westcott after all and she was very apologetic, saying actually, they were going to break up instead. She politely refused to go into details at all, but other band members hinted strongly at what happened and I felt really, really bad about it. I at least give them all credit for not publicly getting into it. That would have served no purpose at all.

But playing strictly for fun -vs- trying to advance a serious musical career are very diametrically opposed goals. That's why I encourage bands to sort that out when they form. It broke up No Refund very quickly too ...

This is a tough decision.... but at the moment I guess it would be:

~Big D and the Kids Table
~Streetlight Manifesto
~The Aquabats
~I Voted for Kodos
~Too Short Notice
~The Might Mighty Bosstones

**Yeah, long concert... way too many ska bands I love**

i'd totally pick playing for fun. i mean, it'd be great to really become something, but i love when bands stay true to their fans and don't mind playing a small venue every once and a while. if i ever had to choose, it'd be all about connecting with the fans and kids who make it all happen.

Yeah. Mike Park is coming out with a new solo album this summer too. It's really reeeeally good. I can't wait for it to officially come out so that I can buy it and/or steal it from someone.

Mike is touring with Alkaline Trio and Collassal right now, I believe. Or at least he was last I knew. I actually haven't heard that much on Mike Park's happenings specifically lately so much as I've heard what's going on with Asian Man Records and Plea for Peace.

Oh man. Plea for Peace has a tent this summer at Warped Tour. You should ALL go and buy tons of stuff to help them out. :)

He's doing the living room tour, where he is playing shows in people's living rooms.

Yeah, I was talking to Johnny Hero today and was asking him what was going on with Mike Park and he was like 'You don't know!?!?!?!? What's your problem!?!?!?!' And then he told me and I remembered that I had seen it on his site, and he's playing a show right down the street from my house, and I laughed because I so am not going.

It's probably not good for me to feel so defensive about my house and what he said about it. I probably shouldn't hold a grudge. Sadly, the impression he made on me has stuck, even if people keep telling me that he's not usually like that. He's a really good guy, he's just not my kind of really good guy.

 Tear.

Yeah, it's on his site. But apparently the show isn't just open to any one, you have to e-mail the guy who's house he's playing at and talk to him and be like 'yo, i love Mike Park, can i come, pleeeeease?' and maybe he'll say okay.

That's the problem with having a living room tour; not everyone likes random people they don't know showing up at their place and possibly having it trashed. Then again, shouldn't they expect strange people if they're going to do something like that?

I dunno. I don't care, I'm not going.

I think this would have to be an all day event, but...

The Blue Meanies
Mu330
Hepcat
Rudie Crew
Morning Glory
Suicide Machines
Big D
The Scorchers
The Planet Smashers

Then, we'd have a ressurrection of Joe Strummer and The Clash would play one more show, just for me...

Logan* :D

Um. It's at Brian's house down the street. Brian, as the cool guy who goes to SU and plays in The Naked Citizens and Outside IN. And who is also on this messageboard too.

I better get in or Brian is going down!!!!!

Aiyana, I'm hoping you might re-consider ...
